Hi, I’m hannah

The most important thing about me is that I have two beautiful cats. As mentioned, I’m a Korean Adoptee and have lived in the US for almost all my life in a non-Korean, non-diverse community. Growing up this way had a unique set of challenges with trying to feel beautiful but looking completely different than most everyone (although, feeling beautiful in any situation can be difficult).

My journey to embrace my natural features started in 2020 with the curly girl method, and that really validated my struggle with my self image. Turns out, so many other women in their late 20s and older were also just now starting to realize their frizzy “straight” hair was actually curly, but they’d just been styling it how people around them did. It wasn’t until social media connected us with the idea that we learned of the proper hair care to let our natural, new (to ourselves) beauty to shine. That paved the way for me. What else could I rediscover about myself?

I started watching popular makeup videos in 2017 when the YouTube beauty industry was huge. I loved it, but was also always feeling frustrated with how different the looks would turn out on me even when I followed them step by step. For fun during Covid lockdowns, I searched for some Korean makeup videos. When I first tried out some looks that flattered my features (in 2021), I felt this joy that was new to me. I really felt beautiful and finally felt included in makeup. I so hope to share that feeling with anyone I can!

Again, I want to put a disclaimer in here that I recognize that everyone has a different skin tone and I encourage everyone to try new things to find what flatters you most even and especially if it means straying from trendy beauty around you to find what works best for you.
