Mac’s “Chili’s Crew” Line

I know I have mentioned my love for Mac’s “Chili“ and “Devoted to Chili“ lipstick a million times since the start of the blog, but there’s a reason they are both a Korean beauty staple and Mac’s NUMBER ONE lip shade! “Chili“ is a beautiful red with orangey tones that compliment the neutral yellows in my Korean skin. Mac describes it as “a spicy brick red“ (Source 1). I don’t reach for it every day because I’m not always prepared for the upkeep required for a day of classic lipstick, but now that Mac has released a “Chili’s Crew“ line with different formulas, I can!

I’ll be honest and say I’m very late with this post, and by now the line is in the sale section on the Mac website, but I’m hoping this could be considered good news! I’ve had quite the break between posts and that’s because I was learning to love myself and my beauty in other ways than makeup. I hope to continue monthly posts but very much want to only post techniques and products that excite me. Over my “break“ I have found some things to share and now just need motivation to put it all together. NOW - onto the swatches and reviews!

Mac’s “Chili’s Crew“ line excitingly has limited edition Chili dedicated packaging on the classic Chili lipstick and other formulas of all new Chili inspired colors (source 1). I didn’t end up getting “Devoted to Chili“ in the new packaging, but it’s available online too! Here is the packaging:

It’s super fun and to my delight, there is an orange and red theme! Now, adding in “Devoted to Chili“, here is the line up I have for you today:

And here are the swatches:

1 - The classic Powder Kiss lipstick in “Devoted to Chili“ - Mac describes this as a “Warm brick red“ (source 1) and I would agree though I think it is more subdued and pink than the original “Chili“ shade. It’s a muted red - still the right undertones for my yellow toned skin but less bold. It’s a great every day lip color and formula. I often find that this formula, while needing to be applied throughout the day, doesn’t need a liner and fades nicely. It’s a classic for a reason!

2- Lustreglass Lipstick in “Chili Popper“ - a NEW color that I am crazy about, Mac describes this as a “brick shade“ and the formula as “effortlessly translucent and glossy colour in a stick with a luscious blend of good-for-lips ingredients“ (source 1). As you can see from the photo, it’s a bright color, but its sheerness puts it in the more subdued category with “Devoted to Chili“ on its left. I have built it up before, but day to day prefer one or two coats blended out. This also doesn’t require liner and it is easy upkeep throughout the day. I’m not much of a gloss girl, and this gives me the moisturized look while also supplying enough color.

3 - The classic Creamy Matte Finish Lipstick in “Chili“ - I don’t feel like I need to say much more about this than I have for nearly every blog post. I will say that I usually use a liner and primer with this to keep it nice and unfaded all day, but the formula isn’t as matte as powder kiss, and therefore looks less dry if my lips are having a hard time. The perfect color, the perfect red, the cutest packaging!

4 - Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in “Chili Addict“ - another NEW color! I’m pretty excited about this one because I love liquid lipstick, which stays much longer than a bullet lipstick. It’s a little darker, a little redder and my personal favorite in the line! Here it is on the lips:

Not included in the reviews but included in the “Chili’s Crew“ line is the Powder Kiss Liquid Lipcolour in “Devoted to Chili“ and the Powder Kiss Velvet Blur Slim Stick in “Devoted to Chili“
