Products for Stubborn Lashes
My Korean lashes, while being very long seem to grow just straight downward. No Mascara could help them stay up, and what’s the point of putting black mascara on your black lashes if you can’t even tell it’s there? For a while I used a Benefit Mascara and thought that was my “holy grail“, it didn’t budge, but it didn’t keep the lashes up either. On top of this, my eyelash curler (Tarte brand) couldn’t get around my cheekbones to get to the root of the lashes and properly curl them. It was just putting a kink in them midway to the ends, which would uncurl throughout the day.
But I did find solutions - and you can probably guess what it was - Asian brand products!
I believe it was the eyelash curler I found first. Definitely the reviews on Sephora helped me find this product, maybe google too. The Shiseido Eyelash Curler is perfect because it is curved such that my cheekbones don’t get in the way. I can get as close to the root of the lash at possible which really helps to lift them. Like many other curlers, it has a replaceable pad. It is available on the Shesiedo website and Sephora for $25 USD (Source 1). Here’s what’s I mean about the curvature:

Make sure you look at the lashes on my other eye to see just how much of a difference it makes!
After I found this curler, like I said I was still using the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, which didn’t budge, but it was heavy so the lashes would wilt throughout the day. I have tried two brands of Mascara that I love- Holika Holika (which I tried first and got totally hooked on Korean mascara), and Clio.
They were both excellent, but I have one pro and con each. I prefer the Clio Kill Lash Superproof Mascara because it is much like the consistency of Roller Lash, but keeps my lashes up all day! It’s got a bit of a thicker consistency to it like I’m used to, while the Holika Holika Super Curling Mascara is more natural looking and lighter (making lashes touchable throughout the day if you find yourself doing that like I do). The downside is that it flakes a little more, and the downside of the Clio brand is that it can be goopy if you don’t remove excess product before applying. You may end up removing a lump after you first apply, but I just use a spoolie some days and it’s a quick and easy fix.
And the brands have many different formulas if you are looking for thickening vs. curling etc.! I usually get mine from Yesstyle.com or Amazon.
They look like this:
Here’s what the Clio brand does on my curled lashes. It somehow seems to lift them more.

Now, they will get pushed down a little throughout the day by my eyelids, but I don’t know how to describe it other than they still really fight to stay up there. At the end of the day, I am still able to tell I have mascara on, and they haven’t wilted back down to their position sans product.
And Voila! Another way you can be included in makeup with products that work for you is in the books!
